A 5-Day NewStyle Hustle Festival
May 13 – 17, 2026
Festival passes and registration open until Friday, May 8.
Time until the festival
To The Music is a 5-day NewStyle Hustle festival based in NYC, being hosted for the first time in May 2026 by Valerie Anysia and the NSH NYC community. Like many other street and partner dance styles, hustle is danced and shared differently around the world based on who your teachers are, your approach to art and musicality, the local music and party culture, and your personal expression as a dancer.
This festival is intended to show you how it feels to dance NewStyle Hustle in New York, what it looks like in the club culture, highlight community leaders who have built and contributed to this movement for more than a decade, and share perspectives of what makes NewStyle Hustle different from other approaches.
While I could say more about my passion for NewStyle Hustle, my love for the community, and my hopes for this festival – I simply encourage you to experience it for yourself. Organizing an event at this scale takes a big leap of faith, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who is making space in their journey to support it.
– Val
Thank you the co-organizer and NSH community leaders who are helping make this festival possible: Reina H., Omari M., Jeff S., Melina R., Kenji T., and Rob L.
NYC-trained under the founders, Jeff & Robyn, Kenji is teacher, leader, community builder bridging NYC and Tokyo. His teaching focuses on musicality and syncopation to elevate both freestyle and partner connection in NewStyle Hustle.
His workshops don’t teach patterns and tricks, but focus on making you think outside the box — technique corroborating freedom.
Founder of NewStyle Hustle, Jeff Selby shaped a global dance movement rooted in musicality, connection, and freestyle expression. His artistic contributions continue to influence the global Hustle scene directly and indirectly around the world.
Global teacher, competitor, and community builder, Melina is known for redefining roles and embracing both lead and follow. She teaches creativity, role-switching, and freedom of expression through connection and play.
All-style dancer with 35+ years across 16 styles, Miss Bibi was part of the very first NewStyle Hustle classes in NYC and helped bring the movement to Europe. She teaches from a place of joy, connection, and deep musical feeling, where dance is therapy for the soul.
Waterparkjones is an open format DJ hailing from San Diego, California. With a passion for diverse genres, WPJ started his musical journey back in 2004, spinning hip hop and breaks. In 2016, he discovered his love for soulful, deep, and afro house music, showcasing his skills on CDJs. WPJ's background as a dancer influences his track selection, ensuring the dancefloor stays in motion.
He is a resident DJ at Souleil, a renowned soulful house day party, and a co-creator of the dancer-focused iLL Function parties in San Diego. Sharing stages with notable artists, including King Britt, Mr. V, and Coflo, Waterparkjones embodies the spirit of a bboy, lofter, houser, rocker, and hustler.
Experience his dynamic sets at San Diego house music shows, dance cyphers, and hustle socials.
Specific rules and judges to be announced closer to the event.

Hustle N’ Tussle (@hustlentusslenyc) is a Jack & Jill and 7 to Smoke style battle for NewStyle, Classic, and Latin Hustle dancers. Competitors are encouraged to represent their hustle style and step out of your comfort zone by dancing to various types of music. Their regular monthly battle for May will take place the week before To The Music, on Saturday, May 9.
NewStyle HNT is a collaboration between To The Music and Hustle N’ Tussle for festival participants to challenge themselves, test new skills they learned during the week, and show their expression of NewStyle Hustle specifically. Attending at least 1 workshop represents each competitor’s commitment to their NSH training.
Sign up for the battle through Ticket Tailor. It is the same price to battle as it is to spectate.
To The Music has a dedicated housing coordinator, Reina, who can work with you to find spare rooms or couches being offered by our local community members. While we cannot guarantee finding a host for every request, we will do our best to find a match that suits your needs and travel itinerary – or at minimum, offer hotel or Airbnb recommendations that are affordable and centrally located.
To contact Reina, DM @tothemusicnyc on Instagram and we will connect you via group chat.
Wear anything you’re ready to dance and sweat in. None of our events or parties have a dress code.
Studio dance shoes can be worn based on personal preference, but not recommended for the expected style of movement in the workshops and socials.
Tickets purchased through Ticket Tailor can be cancelled and refunded up to 1 hour before the festival begins (4pm ET on May 13, 2026). Your refund will exclude any transaction fees and donations that may have been made with your order. All sales become final once the festival begins.
